Stonehenge is a collection of medieval stones set within Salisbury Plain and has captured the imagination of many over the centuries. Its age
has been estimated at 3100 BC and is thought to have been constructed in three
phases, taking over thirty million hours.
Speculation around who and why created Stonehenge includes theories that it was
a place for worshipping the sun, observing astronomical events or even a
huge calendar built perhaps by the Druids, the Greeks, the Phoenicians or
possibly the Atlanteans.
